Last year I left a role; this year I built judgment.
My previous job was at a ToB company in observability / cloud-native observability, owning South China brand and growth: measuring value, explaining it, and closing the loop. That work is the same bar Super Individual uses: clickable, explainable, acceptable — then growth talk is allowed.
A year later, that chapter still sits in the capability base — frontline business and growth, AI tooling and verifiable delivery, plus public translation work in observability and industry links. Not a “star engineer” persona; process literacy is supporting discipline, not the headline. Closer to: an AI change agent and companion with a full-enterprise business perspective. Résumé facts can stay; client names, internal numbers, and unpublished deals do not.
What actually changed was structure
For a one-person firm (OPC) practitioner, freedom is not the finish line; reusable judgment structures are.
From “single-employer KPIs” → operate under your own company
From “deep involvement ≈ upside owed” → agree interests and reconciliation before time
From “closing loops for a platform” → time-boxing · fees/sharing in writing · no oral-equity gambling
Three reusable judgments
Separate labor / performance / ownership / narrative — titles are not agreements.
Platforms give you a pipe; retellable cases and contracts belong to your entity.
Keep the order: interests table → time table → titles table.
Relation to the Super Individual method
Body and cognition need a baseline; delivery needs verification. Collaboration needs a baseline too — writing interests into a table. That is not cynicism; it makes cooperation compoundable and reviewable.
If you are stretched between “role contribution” and “your own company,” talk structure first, then projects.
